About Threshold
We built this because
no one should face death alone.
Whether you're planning ahead, caring for someone in their final days, or working through the aftermath of a loss — Threshold is your guide.
Why we exist
Death is the most universal human experience. Why is it the most disorienting one to navigate?
Every year, roughly 3.3 million Americans die. Behind each death sits a family executing a 40-to-80-item project — funeral selection, remains disposition, obituaries, account closures, estate paperwork, benefit filings, digital cleanup — almost always under time pressure, almost always for the first time, almost always while grieving.
The alternative we're used to looks like a stack of pamphlets, a list of vendors with conflicting incentives, and Google searches at 2 a.m. There is no project manager. No clear path. No guide.
Threshold is that guide.
Who we serve
Three audiences, one shared need.
Planning ahead
You're healthy and want to spare your family the chaos. We help you make decisions now — in writing, accessible, shareable — so your wishes are honored and your loved ones aren't left guessing.
Caring for someone
A loved one is in hospice, has received a diagnosis, or is in active dying. We help you find the right services quickly — without sales pressure — and stay one step ahead of the logistics so you can focus on being present.
After a loss
Someone has died, and the next forty things need to happen this week. We sequence the work, surface the right local providers, and walk alongside you through every form, call, and decision until the dust settles.
What we stand for
Calm guidance, honest information, and no upsell.
No pressure.
You will never be rushed, upsold, or steered toward a vendor based on their commission. We surface what fits your situation — religious preference, budget, timeline — and trust you to choose.
Plain language.
Funeral homes, hospices, estate attorneys, and clergy each speak their own dialect. We translate. Every step is written for someone meeting these decisions for the first time.
Verified providers.
Every service we list is real, current, and confirmed. Featured (paid) listings are clearly marked — they don't buy ranking, only visibility.
Privacy first.
Your plan, your circumstances, your decisions are yours. We don't sell your data, and we don't share contact information with vendors unless you ask us to.
Where we are
Starting in Austin. Going wherever you are.
Threshold launched in Austin, Texas — where we've verified local providers across every category families need. From there, we're expanding city by city across Texas, then nationally.
Long-term, we want to support international families too — from cross-border body repatriation to navigating consular paperwork in another language. The unfortunate truth is that death travels with you.
